The unprecedented & largest lawyers struggle in the history of mankind began on 9th March 2007 when chief justice of Pakistan, Iftikhar Chaudhary, declined to submit his resignation on demand of a military dictator and his associates. After so many years, sixty years down the line, at last we had someone who said ‘No’ to the dictator. What a defining moment and what a pleasant thing to boast about. The lawyers boycotted the courts and held massive rallies across the country attracting large public support and participation. After two year passing of this movement, lawyers’ resolve is unhindered and they are all set to fight for the reinstatement of judiciary no matter what. Lawyers have announced to start a long march throughout the country and assemble on March 9 at Islamabad’s constitutional avenue. It is expected that a million people would turn out in Islamabad on March 9 and stage a sit-in which will continue until the judges are restored. This is a final phase of lawyer’s movement and we all have to stand by them in this critical moment. Allah says “Verily never will Allah change the condition of a people until they change it themselves” (13:11). This is our last opportunity to have an independent judiciary in our country therefore we all have to contribute to long march on March 9 in any manner we can. God bless Pakistan!
