Different translations or different sources!
[blue]final question to Lofty. Are these quotes that approve of the act based on the practice of the Sahaba before the revelation of the Verse which I have quoted or later?
"there is [hl]no basis of prohibiting it[/hl] (masturbation) therefore it is allowed, except that [hl]I do not approve of it[/hl] because it cannot be termed as good behavior"
Does that mean that Allah and the Prophet were unaware that [hl]"it cannot be termed as good behavior"[/hl] and hence did not think [hl]of prohibiting it[/hl][/blue]
Verse you have quoted has a specific directive if you read it in its context. It has nothing to do with the issue at hand. Yes, it can not be termed as good if you are married. On the other hand, if you are single and you masturbate to prevent yourself from fornication i.e. greater sin, it can be termed as good then.
