it started with Iqbal in &quot;reconstruction of religious thought in Islam&quot; and then very few till Mr Ghamdi.....supporters like you and me are not very vocal, scholastic and courageous I think....so it would need time...Ghamdi is not the reformer of today...he will be understood more effectively in future....[b]when tolerance and freedom of speech will prevail...[/b]it has already started in west to some extent....
if qayama is not near, even then i do not think our generation could see that miracle...but we can contribute to make the foundation of that tolerant society...May God help us in that....
why I said this??... because whatever you mentioned earlier about  some progress in women status and in other issues, are still not supported and endorsed by majority of people who are religious or sincere believers. Mostly such progress happened because of people who are secular minded or less religious. And it is like that because only few (Ghamdi like) scholars consider such things within the Islamic teachings. Otherwise most of the sincere muslims still believe in old wrong interpretation of Islam on many present issues....
