Assalamu Alaikum Loveall, I can see the Quranic references you have given and understand and agree with what you are saying. But most people will have a differing view to them from their own school of thought and opinion. Most people say that school's of thought differ only by 20% as said in some lectures and conferences. 20% is still a lot for a religion that is suppose to be unchanged. Schools of thought and their topics back then were quite different for some of the issues we have today. They grasp a different perspective and theory as to how to believe in each case. Some topics are agreed upon while others we completely disagree with. Has the religion come to a standard of believing and agreeing with the opinion and thought of an imam/school as to what he thinks is acceptable? For instance, if you have tons of young Muslims in USA and then you have young Muslims in the middle east or another Muslim country not so much involved with different cultures/religions and majority of the people are Muslim. Could the the point of view of a Muslim in a "modern" country implement how strict a religion could be rather in a majority dominant Muslim country where that form of strictness would not be considered really strict but a way of life to live in the accordance of Islam? Some young people that live in a country such as USA would want religion to fit in with their surrounding (society), and if it isn't sounding like it is, they consider it to be very strict, even with some Muslims in some countries in Europe same thing. And this form of thought is given in some lectures, and how those people who are considered to be strict with themselves to be categorized as Salafi's because their belief is too strict. But the matter of strictness depends on what you have been exposed to. If you have been exposed to boy/girl relationships yourself, then most would want people to agree with them and scholars/imam's give them references with what they believe in. Whereas, a dominant Muslim country where everything is regulated due to religion, it will be hard finding people that would agree with it being accepted. Know what I mean? Thanks for the post. Jazakhallah Assalamu Alaikum
