i think we can not just leave this responsibility of preaching with the words that those were prophets and we are not.... We all know that Muhammad pbuh was last prophet and there will be no prophet after him, so this is our duty to preach islam, and its also mentioned in quran. As far as tolerance is concerned, we can not fight or kill someone to make him agree, our job is only convey the message and rest leave in the hand of Allah. We can explain non-muslim with the quotations of their own books because they dont believe in Quran, but we cant fight with them. because in quran its mentioned in surah 2 in begining verses, that there are three kind of people, one who has open heart and they accepted islam, one who has close hearts , they listen, but they listen only to argue and even read your book but only to find something to prove they are right, and 3rd kind of people who are 50, 50%, when they go to non-muslims the say we are with you we making fool of muslims, and when they come to muslims, they say we are with you. so Allah says, they are actualy making their own selves fool, but they dont know. So we should see what kind of catagory this person has who we are talking to.... and then convey message and then its his responsiblity to decide in which catagory he or she wants to go (from above 3 catagories mentioned in surah baqarah), and smile and trust God. thanks
