Psychologically people who experience depression can feel:• continuous low mood, or sadness, feelings of hopelessness and helplessness,• low self-esteem, tearfulness, feelings of guilt, feeling irritable and intolerant towards others,• lack of motivation, and little interest in things in general, lack of enjoyment,• difficulty making decisions, suicidal thoughts, or thoughts of harming someone else,• anxiousness or worry.The physical symptoms can be:•slowed movement and speech, change in appetite and weight (your weight will usuallydecrease, but sometimes it may increase),•digestive complaints, such as indigestion, constipation or diarrhoea ,•unexplained aches and pains, lack of energy and a lack of interest in sex,•changes to the menstrual cycle for women.There are many ways of looking at depression and its causes, depending on how you look at lifeand whom you choose to listen to. As much as definitions of depression can vary, the symptomsare usually similar for everyone who experiences this life condition.looking at depression –create an empowering, positive understandingDepression can be seen as a signal from our unconscious minds telling us that some part ofourselves needs to be reclaimed, expressed, accepted and re-aligned.
