We first need to agree that strategy for propagation is something different from our attitude toward the Holy Qur'an. The latter alludes to our understanding the Holy Book and the former refer to how we disseminate the message so understood. |

Very well; there are two things involved 1) understanding the message of Allah 2) propagating the message so understood.
While a person may be able understand the message correctly, he may still fail to properly disseminate it. Therefore, a preacher should not only assess that he has understood the message corrently, but also continue to assess the appropriateness of his strategy regarding dissemination. |

Studying Islam can also be cited as an example regarding dissemination of the message of Allah. In the age of Internet, should you insist that people come to you in person and listen the message? Obviously, that would be an uncalled for behaviour. |

Assalam-u-Alaikum, Though it is a good policy of refraining from commenting on contemporary organizations, but as you know there are so many organizations working in the name of Islam. Therefore, I think you should atleast guide the people about some basic criteria of assessing an organization. |

I am afraid I cannot forward you any criterion to judge whether an organization , you intend to seek information from, is trustworthy or not. It simply is not possible being a human being. However, Allah has blessed you with some of His blessings which can be very helpful in this regard though they too are not error free. You have common sense and a basic idea regarding what is good and what is evil; Allah has also blessed you with a reasoning faculty. You can easily judge what is being presented to you as right or wrong. You must place credence to only that thing which appeals to your sense and reason and discard everything else. Using these two items, reasoning faculty and sense of morality, you will be able to judge what has been presented before you though you cannot humanly judge the person(s) presenting it.
What needs to be appreciated is the fact that Islam has certain established facts that are so pronounced that there is virtually no difference regarding them among the Muslims. For instances, God is one, the Last Day of Judgment is soon to come, there are five obligatory prayers, we are supposed to fast during the month of Ramadan et cetera. Obviously, no individual can change our point of view regarding these facts. However there are certain areas where prudence needs to be exercised. It is where I will ask you to use your reasoning faculty and sense of morality to judge whatever is being offered to you on the net.

Assalam-u-Alaikum, I,m in a quandary.I had been a very active member of Tablighi Jamaat. But when i stumbled upon Ishraq and Renaissance and other magazines like them and began to study the Quran,it dawned upon me that many aspects of Tablighi Jamaat do not conform to The Quran and sunnah.Their indifference to the Quran and their blind following of their ulema irk me a lot.Wheneve I discuss these things with them, the say thatI,ve been misled. They are completely insular to criticism or discussion. Now my problem is :Should I part ways with them? I want to get along with them and spread quranic message but they insist that one must stick to their prescribed course(Fazail-e-Aamal etc,.)and do preaching withinin their prescribed parameters. What should I do? |

Brother Aslam,
It is quite incomprehensible that someone is that pontifical about their view point. They must have their point established in their minds at least. I think you should try to keep ties wiht them and try to implore their logic. Once you know their reasoning then you could address the matter accordingly and your desire to spread the Qur'anic message will InshaAllah be crowned. |

Exploring the logic behind the strategy of every organization really helps us address any ensuing matter more appropriately. As suggested by Tariq, you should not break ties with them. As a humble preacher, you should continue to present your arguments before those who at least listen if do not deliberate. Difference of opinion should be seen as a mere differene of opinion. It should not cause you stand in defiance of your opponents. |

GOD SAYS:
And from among you there should be a party who invite to good and enjoin what is right and forbid the wrong, and these it is that shall be successful. And be not like those who became divided and disagreed after clear arguments had come to them, and these it is that shall have a grievous chastisement. And be not like those who became divided and disagreed after clear arguments had come to them, and these it is that shall have a grievous chastisement. (3: 104, 105)
During my student life, I had been with them (Tableeghi Jamat) only upto the level of visiting the vicinities and joining the gatherings in the local mosque. They told me that their aim was not to teach each and every lesson of Islam but to remind the things to do later on according to one’s own facilities available. |
