Assalam-u-alaikum, What are causes which led to the downfall of Muslims? How should Muslims salvage their lost glory and prestige? |

In a nutshell two causes have contributed to this downfall:
1. Severing ties with the Qura'n 2. Having no standing in the fields of science and technoology
Regaining lost glory would depend on overcoming the above two obstacles |

Assalam-u-alaikum, God has guided us in two ways :
a) trhough nature b) through his messangers and Holy Books in matters in which chances of doing wrong by human beings are very high.
If a person does not take guidance from his nature then i guess his chances of taking guidance from Quran are very very less.
So I think that not taking guidance from nature (which although is not complete but covers most or much of the part) is also a main reason of downfalls of muslims which must be highlighted. |

Gradually the only role left for the Quran was that it was read without being understood or understood without being read |

Approaching the Holy Qur'an with a fixed mindset. That you already have made up your mind about an issue before you read the Holy Book. |

Assalmu alaykum
Every movement, that takes the Muslims away from the Holy Qur'an, is responsible for their downfall. |

Assalam O alaikum Sufism obscured the true picture of the real concept of the religion and hindered its effective propagation. This must have cast negative effects. |

Assalam o Alaikum, Thank u for ur replies! Some scholars insist that the Downfall of Mu,tazilas was one of the causes of Muslim Downfall. Do u agree? |

I'd rather relate the downfall to the general attitude of the Muslims istead of relating it to some faction. |

Salamoona, I think that the ascendence of Ashaarites led to the blind following(taqlid) which is one of the causes of Muslim downfall. |

Agreed. Bling following is one major cause for the downfall of the Muslim Ummah. Did you ever think why blind following gained acceptance among the masses? |
