homosexuality
I was reading the answers given by the scholars of Al-Mawrid Institute of Islamic Sciences on a question regarding homosexuality and they have given a detailed answer proving that homosexuality is wrong and prohibited and they have even written in there answer that American Psychiatric Association considers homosexuality as due to mental disorder but a western person has rejected this reply and said that American Psychiatric Association is not against homosexuality and he has even given the evidence with reference which is as follows:
At its January 1975 meeting, Council [Ed. note: The Council of Representatives, the governing body of the American Psychological Association] adopted a statement of policy regarding homosexuals, recommended by BSERP [Ed. note: The Board of Social and Ethical Responsibility for Psychology, a Standing Board provided by the American Psychological Association's Bylaws] and amended by the Board of Directors and Council, and adapted from a statement adopted by the Association of Gay Psychologists Caucus Meeting in New Orleans in September 1974. Further, Council voted that the Association's Statement of Policy regarding Equal Employment Opportunity be amended to include sexual orientation among the prohibited discriminations listed in the statement. Following is the Policy Statement regarding Discrimination against Homosexuals: The American Psychological Association supports the action taken on December 15, 1973, by the American Psychiatric Association, removing homosexuality from that Association's official list of mental disorders. The American Psychological Association therefore adopts the following resolution:
Homosexuality per se implies no impairment in judgement, stability, reliability, or general social and vocational capabilities: Further, the American Psychological Association urges all mental health professionals to take the lead in removing the stigma of mental illness that has long been associated with homosexual orientations.
Regarding discrimination against homosexuals, the American Psychological Association adopts the following resolution concerning their civil and legal rights: The American Psychological Association deplores all public and private discrimination in such areas as employment, housing, public accommodation, and licensing against those who engage in or have engaged in homosexual activities and declares that no burden of proof of such judgement, capacity, or reliability shall be placed upon these individuals greater than that imposed on any other persons. Further, the American Psychological Association supports and urges the enactment of civil rights legislation at the local, state and federal levels that would offer citizens who engage in acts of homosexuality the same protections now guaranteed to others on the basis of race, creed, color, etc. Further, the American Psychological Association supports and urges the repeal of all discriminatory legislation singling out homosexual acts by consenting adults in private. (Conger, 1975, p. 633).

This idea that people are "born" homosexual is from the Kufaar and is not based on Islamic Law.
NO ONE in this world is BORN a Homosexual.
Allaah does not punish by the way you are created, after all, Allaah created you, but Allaah punishes His slaves by the choices that we make, not the way we are created.... EVERY HUMAN is created recognizing Allaah as their Lord but if they CHOOSE to deny this; then they become a kaafir... and for this covering of the truth, they are punished.
They claim that their sexual orientation is natural; whereas in fact it is a distortion of nature. Allaah counted their deed as wrongdoing and immoral, and He sent upon the people of Lut a punishment the like of which no other nation had seen. He also tells us that this punishment is not ever far from the wrongdoers. Their claim that their orientation is natural serves only to propagate and spread immorality, and it is just an excuse for them. Many of them change their appearance so as to look odd, so how can we say that this is how they were created? Allaah does not create anyone just to punish or torture them. He created mankind to worship Him, but He may try His slaves with hardship as a test of their faith, to expiate for their sins and to raise their status. Allaah is too Just to force a person to commit sin and then punish him. On the contrary, people commit sins by their own free choice – like these Perverted People – and it is for this that they deserve to be punished.
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning):
"And your Lord treats no one with injustice" [Qur'ân in Surah al-Kahf 18:49]
We should "judge" according to Shariah, not what we feel, or think... because Allaah has brought down Islaamic Law and this is the only law that is recognized. not the law of Christians or Jews.
Allaah says in Qur'ân in Surah At-Tahrim to Lots wife who was sympathetic to homosexuals... (interpretation of the meaning)
"Allaah has set an example to the unbelievers in the wife of Nuh (Noah) and the wife of Lut (Lot). They were married to two of Our righteous servants, but they betrayed them. In no way could their husbands protect them from Allah. Both of them were told: "Enter the fire, along with those who enter." [Surah At-Tahrim Ayat 10]
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning)
"Another example is the people of Lut (Lot) who disbelieved Our warning. We let loose on them a stone- charged tornado which spared none except Lut's household, whom We saved by early dawn" [Qur'ân in Surah Al-Qamar 54:33.34]
Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning)
"We helped him against those people who had denied Our revelations; surely they were an evil people, so We drowned them all in the Great Flood. [ Qur'ân in Surah Al-Anbiya 21:77]

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------- What is Islam's view of homosexuality?
There is no doubt that in Islam homosexuality is considered 'sinful'. Homosexuality as far as Islam is concerned is a profound mistake ( as are all sins if they are not intending to do wrong). Humans are not homosexuals by nature. People become homosexuals because of their environments. Particularly critical is the environment during puberty. Suggestions, ideas & strange dreams are symptoms of confused attempts to understand new and blunt sexual desires and are rashly interpreted as defining someone as being one sexuality or another. If these conclusions are accompanied by actual homosexual acts they are even more strongly reinforced.
Human instincts can be subjected to acts of will. Sexuality is a choice of identity which follows choices of action which follow from choices of what to have sexual fantasies about. Human beings are especially able to control their thoughts, entertaining some and dismissing others.
However, if this free will is not recognised it is easy to get into a cycle of thinking which starts from accepting a hypothesis about yourself as true rather than as a possible choice (even if the options are sometimes difficult). For example: "I am lazy " could be supposed true by someone. When the person who thinks this lies around in bed in the morning he observes this inaction as evidence of the statement "I am lazy." As he repeatedly chooses to do so the evidence mounts and the idea becomes fixed in his identity. It may even have physical manifestations and change his physiology and psychology. This process can easily occur for any idea good or bad about the self which is based largely on evidence resulting from ones own action. The idea may be "I am 'gay'" or "I am content" or "I love eating lots of food". The truth is - you are what you choose to be ; you do what you choose to do ; you think what you choose to think. There may be long time delays between the causing choices and the effects but anyone can change themselves. There are reformed ex-drug addicts, reformed ex-compulsive gamblers and ex-homosexuals. In all these sins prevention is 1000 times better than cure and much easier.
It has been suggested that homosexuality is genetically inherited and that those who have this 'predisposition' are victims of it not sinners of any sort. However, there are other things which are probably genetically influenced to give predispositions to for example gambling or alcoholism .It could also be argued (and has been) that it is programmed into men's genetics for them to be unfaithful to their partner. All these things don't make it the right thing to do, nor does it prevent these things from being regarded as sinful. Drinking alcohol will still be regarded as sinful in Islam even if you have a predisposition to be an alcoholic. The trick as every post alcoholic will tell you is never touch another drop after you quit - it is a long slippery slope - your life is better without it. Once a certain desire is connected to your identity strongly and you get in some way hooked on it, it will always be easy to return to it - you are unable to forget the satisfaction. The difficult task is remembering the bad side of the desire, such as hangovers, lost money, self loathing or a simply sense of loss because of what you missed out on. But if you are to change for the better, you must remember this and the past desires you bound up with your identity can become disconnected from what you choose to become.

I believe in the Qur'an and Sunnah and therefore consider homosexuality as Haraam.

Thanks for that link. Jazakallahu Khair.
quote: Are we not crossing the limits in trying to tell others that they have crossed their limits?
No. It is your duty to inform others when you know that it is a crime. His prayers and "piety" will be weighed against his sins and Judgement proclaimed (Mercy included) By Allah s.w.t. But we have to Judge by his acts in this world only and we have no access to know the list of his other deeds whether accepted or rejected by the Almighty..
Our duty is to make known what is right and what is wrong in the light of the Qur'an and the Sunnah. No lenience towards Mullahs or anyone else.
quote: Do not patience, empathy and affection conquer more than resentment, rage and anger?
That advice does not apply to immoral activities of such grave nature, more so by those who call themselves inheritors of the Prophet. The punishment should be meted out on them as prescribed by the Qur'an and Sunnah. If we are not in authority to impelement punishment the least action demanded of us is resentment and there is no place for affection on such criminals.

The author of that article writes among other things,
quote: ...........and fervently to rid them of this disability ...........
I have already posted my comments on this in my Post dated - Monday, August 25, 2008 - 12:45 PM. Hope you will spare a few minutes to ponder over the points and then comment. Al-A'raf Verses 80 and 81:
[وَلُوطًا إِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ أَتَأْتُونَ الْفَـحِشَةَ مَا سَبَقَكُمْ بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِّن الْعَـلَمِينَ ]
[إِنَّكُمْ لَتَأْتُونَ الرِّجَالَ شَهْوَةً مِّن دُونِ النِّسَآءِ بَلْ أَنتُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّسْرِفُونَ ]
(80. And (remember) Lut, when he said to his people: "Do you commit lewdness such as none preceding you has committed in all of the nations)
(81. "Verily, you practice your lusts on men instead of women. Nay, but you are a people transgressing beyond bounds.'')
The Story of Prophet Lut, upon Him be Peace, and His People
Allah said, We sent,
[وَ]
(And)
[لُوطاًإِذْ قَالَ لِقَوْمِهِ]
(Lut, when he said to his people..)
Lut (Lot) is the son of Haran the son of Azar (Terah), and he was the nephew of Ibrahim, peace be upon them both. Lut had believed in Ibrahim and migrated with him to the Sham area. Allah then sent Lut to the people of Sadum (Sodom) and the surrounding villages, to call them to Allah, enjoin righteousness and forbid them from their evil practices, their sin, and wickedness. It this area, they did things that none of the children of Adam or any other creatures ever did before them. They used to have sexual intercourse with males instead of females. This evil practice was not known among the Children of Adam before, nor did it even cross their minds, so they were unfamiliar with it before the people of Sodom invented it, may Allah's curse be on them. `Amr bin Dinar conmented on;
[مَا سَبَقَكُمْ بِهَا مِنْ أَحَدٍ مِّن الْعَـلَمِينَ]
("...as none preceding you has committed in all of the nations.'')
"Never before the people of Lut did a male have sex with another male.'' This is why Lut said to them,
("Do you commit lewdness such as none preceding you has committed in all of the nations Verily, you practice your lusts on men instead of women.'')
meaning, you left women whom Allah created for you and instead had sex with men Indeed, this behavior is evil and ignorant because you have placed things in their improper places.
