you know what would really make me laugh?
if it turned out that, in the end, there isnt a 'dajjal' and we were all just being misled by an unauthentic hadith.
are there any Quranic references to Dajjal? ive finished the entire thing and dont remember coming across even one...

I think today's TV is also a kind of Dajjad as:
It has only one eye in centre.
when its on there is songs program mostly.
It give you information of all over the world.
When it on everybody listen to it.

Plz NOTE that we DO NOT NEED a Quranic Reference for Each & Every thing. So that's why we can STILL believe in Dajjal as:
1- We Found this information in Correct Ahadith
2- This is One of the Future NEWS that Prophet pbuh has given

yes but even still, is there even a point in finding this dajjal character?? i deem these hadith-hunts in search for 'the truth behind dajjal' totally pointless. its another one of those ideas that adds more difficulties to Islam and if it does something like that just let it alone 
i say it adds difficulties because it makes people ask pointless questions instead of questions that can actually help them solve something, i really really think that dajjal is a waste of time and refuse to spend any more breath on the idea of his/her/its existance.
and as for what brother jawaid0hussain has said, maybe, maybe not. i dont think dajjal is the tv but it could be.

As you know whatever that is mentioned in the Qur'an is important for us to know, but this dajjal charecter has not been mentioned so it is not that important for us to think or know about it. |

Let me give you an example, If u researched for a day, trying to find out what the dajjal was, and for example you found out it was a Tv. You wouldn't go round the world and ruin the tv's! You wouldn't say to your president to do something about it. You wouldn't kill yourself!! So there's no point in knowing. All you can do is say to the other people!
So there you are 2 sollutions in why its not important,
1. The Qur'an dosn't say
2. There's no point in knowing!
