Living in another faith
Sometime back I listened to this three part program, in each episode two people of different faiths met and introduced each other to their individual religions and practices. They mingled in each other's community and tried to follow some of the ways of the other's religion to the extent that they comfortably could and then at the end of the program they are asked to recount their experiences and also talk about any misconceptions they had that were resolved after this interaction.
Not only is this a very interesting program but goes to show how all of us have this tendency to presume things about people or stereotype them, or judge them only through the tainted lens of the media.
BBC: Religion and Ethics Program:
Faith to Faith
Believers from across a religious divide spend time in each other's community to discover the reality behind hype, headlines and prejudice.
Programme 1 Faith to Faith brings together Samina, a young British Muslim and Jenny, a Pentecostal Christian from a black majority church, the Church of God of Prophecy.
Programme 2 Jagroop Singh, a Sikh, spends time with Girish Patel, a Hindu, as they each hope to gain a different and fuller picture of both faiths
Programme 3 Munisha, a Buddhist and Irene, a Jew meet in Manchester to exchange views and to record their reflections.
