Legal Advice in the UK
What is the difference between a solicitor and a barrister?
The same difference as between an allegator and a crocodile.
Assalamu alaikum dear brothers and sisters
Just wanted to say that if anyone is in need of legal advice in the UK I am prepared do my best to assist. I have no doubt that sister Gazalla and others concerned will get involved too, insha'allah. So feel free to post your questions.
The questioner should however bear in mind that any advice offered would be of a general nature and therefore specific legal advice should be sought before acting on it. |

Assalamu alaikum dear brothers and sisters
I am often told by non-lawyers that "A lawyer has to lie to do a good job"
Does anyone in Studying Islam Communities hold this view and if so why? |

Asalaamu Alaykum,
I would agree that a good lawyer needs some acting skills. I was once told that every good lawyer has an actor/actress inside him/her. This is never more true than when I'm cross examining in court or discussing sensitive issues with a client.
It's all about assuming control, confidence and charisma when in actual fact you are just as nervous as any other person in the courtroom. |

The witness was replying smartly to all the questions asked by the lawyer. All of a sudden the lawyer turns to the witness and shouted: "How much money you have taken from accused to win this case?" the witness kept mum and staring at the window . The lawyer repeated his question thrice but witness didnt reply and looking at the window continuously. Finally the judge intervened and asked to the witness: "why dont you reply him?" the witness then turned his face and replied to judge: "sorry sir,I thought he was asking you" |
