we keep receiving the Q and request via emails to connect the registered members to their area members because this is something which is offered in the welcome message from studying islam.
please note: the way we do it is that if you wish to know your area members and if you are happy for us to give your email address to them, we write to them to contact you. |

Local members may join. London session: Sat 10/11/07
An important event for our youngsters specially. Reps. from Studying Islam UK Communities will be delivering the talk to the youngsters participating in the workshop regarding health issues and life style in the light of Islamic Teachings.
For details contact
Rawaad Mahyub <rmahyub@rightstart.org.uk>
The outcomes for the project are that the young people taking part will:
·Develop the skills, confidence and self esteem of young Muslims, providing them with the knowledge and skills required to make healthy life choices and play an active part in their local communities; and
· Ensure that the views of young Muslims are heard by RSFI, Mentor UK, our partners, and policy makers and planners responsible for developing services for young people with particular emphasis on drug and alcohol prevention services nationally
Some of these young people may then be chosen to sit on a national forum for young people.
Part of the programme involves a series of training workshops some of which are
1. Communication and group work
2. Assertiveness and self confidence
3. Drugs misuse prevention
4. Health promotion
5. What matters to you
6. Community participation/having your say

It was a good effort from Rightstart Foundation and now we plan more of such by Renaissance Readers Cub UK as one of our objectives is promotionof healthy lifestyle and thoughts amongst our youth. We think more of such workshops are needed in our comunities. Drug abuse has been found to be directly related to crime rate. In 2003 a survey of young people in eng n wales showed that they believe the 5 most important issues in Britain were crime, drugs, war/terrorism,racism and health.
