Difficult times

We have thankfully received words of sympathy from our interfaith colleagues as follows:

We are very sad to hear of the death of Benazir Bhutto. May she, and all others involved, rest in peace, and her family find comfort.

Whatever political differences are held, we wish Peace, Understanding and stability in Pakistan, and in the hearts and minds of all mankind, everywhere.

Just a brief not of condolence to all my Pakistani friends on this latest tragedy. We pray for all who mourn her passing. We pray also that Pakistan will continue to find a peaceful way forward with stable, representative government.

We also received some calls from local radio and news papers for opinion on behalf of the local Pakistan Welfare Association regarding the sad incident in our country Pakistan. Besides, all day long BBC showed images from various cities of Pakistan-the reaction of the nation.

Although these are difficult times for the nation but this is the time the whole world is looking at us how Muslims/Pakistanis act at the time of shock and sorrow-and there we are. Breaking our own roads and buildings, burning public transport and fuel stations.

Again, we cannot ignore the importance of education amongst common personnel for reasonable action and response to such disasters. May God save us from such tests and when they do come, may we be able to act justly.
