"The requirement to learn English is not colonial.

English is a passport to participation in mainstream society - jobs, education and even being able to use health services,"

‘By Allaah, it is not by memorizing its letters while neglecting the boundaries it has set, it has reached the point where a person would say: ‘I have read the whole Qur-aan without dropping/neglecting even one of its letters.’ And by Allaah he has neglected all of it, you do not see the Qur-aan in him, neither in mannerisms nor actions. (stated by Al Hassan al Basree while clarifying the meaning of contemplating over the Qur-aan)

We can only hope and pray that the senders of these words of great people are following themselves first of all.

Aboosait:; Islam teaches tolerance and acceptence of others point of views. It was just a little line qouted, may have been a personal view or of a great scholar regardless. there is no need to start a two page discussion over this and waste time.
its about time that we as Muslims start being practical and follow the religion of peace in its true essence. God almighty has created this world with people of all different qualities and minds. The purpose was not to make all human beings with same mentality but with enormous diversity. We are all here to be tested. If we cant ignore or tolerate little petty matters with fellow muslim brothers or sisters how are we going to make progress and introduce our religion to non muslims when we cant tolerate each other. we really have to practice what we preach to convince others.

"We....in general and youngmen in particluar do not know the value of money. A paisa saved today is two paisa tomorrow, four paisa after that and so on and so forth. Because of our addiction to living beyond means and borrowing money we lost our sovereignty over this sub-continent."

True pearls from the mouth of Jinnah. It is really sad that Muslims have not paid heed to his words until today.

You cant give it a second time because Allah (God) has already purchased it from you.

At-Tauba (The Repentance)

9:111 Allah hath purchased of the believers their persons and their goods; for theirs (in return) is the garden (of Paradise): they fight in His cause, and slay and are slain: a promise binding on Him in truth, through the Law, the Gospel, and the Qur'an: and who is more faithful to his covenant than Allah. then rejoice in the bargain which ye have concluded: that is the achievement supreme.
