A woman to lead Islam

While studying Islamic Traditions at Saint Mary's University in Halifax, with Proffessor Dr Jamal Badawi, one day in his office before several witnesses he told me the People of Islam were looking for a Woman to lead them on a great war.

I told him all Women are leaders in Islam and the greatest war is the war on Poverty, Violence and Ignorance and that I was one such Woman.

The only Surrah I could find that speaks of a Woman rising was this one.

Surrah 99, 1-8

When the Earth is shaken to her (utmost) convulsion, And the Earth throws up Her burdens (from within), And man cries (distressed): ?What is the matter with her??
On that Day will she declare her tidings: For that thy Lord will Have given her inspiration. On that Day will men Proceed in groups sorted out, To be shown the Deeds That they (had done.) Then shall anyone who Has done an atom?s weight Of good see it!
And anyone who has done an atom?s weight of evil see it.

This is nice of you to share with us your practical experience.

I however have failed to understand how the verses (99:1-8)relates to women in any sense of the word. I have pondered over your suggestion and have also checked the original arbic words. But I see no connection.

These verses actually portray the time of the Day of Resurrection and talk about earth specfically.

May be you can help me to understand the matter better?

Also Why you have written the definition of WARS?

The day of resurrection is also a new begining and on this day a woman will speak from inspiration from Allah and then many will sort out into groups.

It has already begun.

The reason I stated a new definition for W.A.R.S.= World Arising Responsibly and Spiritually is because I think this woman would espouse such an idea.

I believe someone will arise and speak for Islam and Allah in general.

I am afraid I still do not understand why you take the word 'earth' in the referred verses (99:1-8) for some woman.

These verses talk about the earth as you have initially qouted,

When the earth is shaken.....

Please explain how some 'woman' comes within the purport of the Surah (99:1-8)

I believe the Earth is meaning a woman for they say heaven is at the feet of mothers.

To me it just speaks to me that a woman will rise and speak and then there will be a great sorting out of mankind into groups and as I said mankind is sorting out into groups already. (Self help groups to over come poverty, violence and ignorance, spousal abuse, child abuse, sexual abuse, drug abuse, alchol abuse etc.

I guess there is no point argueing about it. It is just what I believe.

Of course, if you have already decided that you will not change what you believe in, no agrument should be forwarded to you. On the same grounds, anyone may deny that there is no country CANADA in this world, because "this is what I believe".

However, for the sake of readers, I would write here that never in the real world, the word 'earth' has ever been taken to mean 'woman'. Talk about language and beliefs should be done on facts and not on notions.

I agree completely to brother Jahangir! Even with my limited knowledge of the Quran I understand that in the above ayat Allah is refering to Earth & not any woman. The Quran can be intrepreted in many ways but some things are just pretty obvious! Arent they?? anyway countries are refered to as SHE but they still remain countries & never become women!!
