wel come Ramadan
Dear all, I am confused about one thing. In Sura Al Qadr. Allah SWT told us that This Quran has been started to deliver on LailatulQadr. then It would be a single moment on the face of this earth, when this was happening. So by the rotation of the earth around its axis, time can varry in different parts of the world on lailatulqadr but date can't, then how come we have different days of lailatulQadr in different part of the world. and one more thing that the Ramadzan in todays world of modern science and communication technology, should start with the first sighting of the moon any where in the world in the whole world simultaneouly. because there would be enough Shahadah on that sighting. and it would support the theory of muslim unity.

Assalam o Alaikum,
Brother I totally agree with your point. I just wanted to discuss one thing that is it possible that Ramadan starts simultaneously in complete world. You know that there is a time difference of almost 10 hours between Pakistan and America, so how can people start fasting in these parts of the world at the same time.
Secondly, I don't think that even sighting of moon is 100% necessary because now a days science can tell in advance the exact time & date of moon so its not 100% compulsory to see a moon.

it means that the time of sahar and Iftar could be different but the date should not be different. And for the sake of Al hadith as directed by Our Prophet Muhammad SAW that one should start fasting on moon sighting, even then it is easy to locate and see the moon some where in the whole world.

Assalaamu-Alaykum.
Our Fard Ibadah and other forms of Ibadah hinges on intention, place, time and action. Each one is dependent on the other.
The Islamic month begins with the positive report of the sighting of the Hilaal. This is the Almighty Allah's Command in Sura Baqara, Ayah 189.
The above Ayah further states that is no virtue if you enter houses (months) from the back (using other criteria).
Virtue is defined as 'the quality of doing what is right and avoiding what is wrong'.
As Muslims, we do not have the satisfaction of personal choices in the matter of how to begin each new lunar month - we have to look for the Hilaal.
The Holy Prophet's (Peace be upon him) statement :"The month has either 29 or 30 days,and, if the Hilaal is hidden on the 29th day then add an extra day to the month".
The sighting of the Hilaal begins each new Islamic lunar month and this is the Almighty Allah's Command.
The science of Hilaal sighting should be common knowledge to all Muslims, but unfortunately, the powers that be have found it necessary not to teach natural law in madrassahs and other institutions of Islamic learning.
These so-called powers are quite satisfied to keep Muslims 'in the dark' as far as the sciences that are expounded in the Holy Qur'an are concerned.
The waxing crescent has to meet certain criteria measurement values in order to be seen. If the values are below certain parameters then the moon remains in it's hidden (ghumma alaykum) phase.
To predict the earliest visibily by naked eye of the youngest waxing crescent for any locality on earth is not easy as this science is in its infancy. At the moment there are Muslim astronomers and scientists researching this subject.
And sighting in various localities has to be done in an organised and scientific manner (presently absent in almost the whole world).
The Islamic month cannot begin on the same gregorian date throughout the world because the Islamic day encompasses two gregorian dates (the night before and the day after).
And because the Hilaal will be sighted west of the initial sighting locality; the areas to the east of the first sighting locality will begin their first day of the lunar month a day later. Therefore the beginning of the Islamic month would span three gregorian days around the world.
We perform our Fard Ibadah in Sacred time-slots and it is important that these time-slots are correctly marked according to Divine Command wherever one may be located on the face of this earth.
Many erroneous sighting reports have been made and unfortunately accepted by the authorities. As long as our decision makers ignore natural science we will have to live with this problem of different beginnings of months in various communities.
My advice is that each individual adheres to Qur'anic Commands with scientific knowledge where necessary. It means going back to school and getting away from the comfort zones that we have created for ourselves.

Assalaamu’alaikum,
Ramdhan is the month of workshop (Training) for renewal of the health of our faith, society as well as the body.
This training involves our daily activities according to the Shariah e.g. the sense of hunger and thirst realizes one for the same as the others (not only human beings but animals also), abstinence from the evils and like five times Salat, Salat-u-Tarawe as a big gathering gives the lesson of equality, brotherhood and communication (like Hajj). Although “Zakat” is a separate pillar of Islam, it can be included here too, as remedy of health of the society.
This training programme is so important that it has been rewarded many times rather full of blessings, forgiveness and freedom from hell because it is the base at which almost all the “Haququllah” and “Haquq-ul-Ibad” rest i.e. believes, fear of God, human values, brotherhood, equality, justice, and endurance etc.
The objectives of this month are achieved only if the feelings and expertness gained, are maintained whole the year otherwise it is same as we read Holy Quran without understanding. Similarly purpose of body health is achieved only if the eating at both the times is according to the “Sunnah” i.e. to eat simple and stop earlier than the complete hunger satiety.
After this month if we remain unchanged, then it is a certificate of unsatisfactory training. On the other hand, if every one gains a satisfactory certificate, then we are in paradise here as well as at the day of resurrection.
May Allah help and forgive us, Aameen!

We have recvd the above site in an email to hospital members and our member of astronomers community @ Studying Islam, br.Ebrahim Senior has confirmed that this site is reliable.
"Dr Khalid Shaukat [Moonsighting.com] is a respected associate and has done great research in the subject of 'young crescent visibility'. We do defer on minor points of detail but the bigger picture remains the same.
According to the naked-eye sighting of the Hilaal, Ramadaan this year should begin on 5 October and after completing a thirty-day fasting period, Eid-ul-Fitr will be on Friday, 4 November 2005.

Respected Sisters/Brothers.
The Moon fiasco / Moonsighting vs Moonfighting / Two Eid or not two Eid / etc.
This is a man-made problem that splits communities into shattered fragments. The almost total lack of textual and scientific knowledge in regard to the Islamic time-keeping system is the root cause for the perpetuation of the fiasco.
The Holy Qur’an tells us very implicitly [2.189] that the Hilaal [youngest naked-eye visible waxing crescent] marks the beginning of the lunar month.
We, in turn, are compelled to study positional astronomy with due emphasis on angles in the sky (sun/earth/moon relationship), the luminosity and magnitude of the object to be observed, and the field of vision in which the object will be sighted.
The age of the moon is immaterial in determining the possible visibility of the crescent. So let us remove this term from our vocabulary.
It is impossible to sight the Hilaal on Monday (3/10/2005) evening. And in any case, Monday evening will be the end of the correctly marked 28th day of Shabaan. The rule remains that the sighting evening is at the end of the 29th day of the lunar month. The Hilaal will be visible in almost all parts of the world on Tuesday evening (4/10/2005). Therefore the First day of Ramadaan will correspond to Wednesday, 5 October 2005.
The European Muslim Council has declared that for Europe, Ramadaan will begin on 5/10/2005. This is the correct decision.
Many persons look to Saudi Arabia for information. (The use of the word Makkah here is totally unwarranted). The Saudi calendar is calculated and prepared at the King Abdul Aziz City of Science and Technology in Riyadh. Saudia does not adhere to the Qur’anic Command but utilizes a moonset after sunset criteria. You follow Saudia at your own risk – either obey Allah’s Laws or obey the Saudi ‘king’s’ law – the choice is yours. And I can assure you that the Saudi calendar criteria is contrary to Allah’s Law.
Back to Tuesday’s sighting. This will be a once in a lifetime viewing experience. The crescent will be flanked very closely by Jupiter on the right, Mercury just below, and Spiqa (brightest star in Virgo) on the left.
