Wa Alaikum assalam Wa Rahmatullah. My system (as old as me in the field of computers) was facing serious problems. Even the UPS broke down and the technicians took their own time to fix it. Masha Allah now both are ok and I shall peep into the interfaith forums to see whats going on.... ....I visited that page on interfaith dialogue but couldnt find any new posts on the subject of gays... Please post the URL.

oops sorry--forgot to paste the pearl that maggy typed 4 us..
Thanku God! I asked for strength and God gave me difficulties to make me strong;
I asked for wisdom... And God gave me problems to solve;
I asked for prosperity...And God gave me brain & brawn to work;
I asked for courage... and God gave me danger to overcome
I asked for love..... and God gave me troubled people to help
I asked for favours... And God gave me opportunities
I receved nothing I wanted I receved everything I needed
My Prayer has been answered. |

Pearls from the Prophet sws
Do not say that if people do good to us, we will do good to them; and if people oppress us, we will oppress them; but determin that if people do you good, you will do good to them; and if they oppress you, you will not oppress them.
Teach me a work, such that when I perform it God and men will love me." Muhammad said, "Desire not the world, and God will love you; and desire not what men have, and they will love you.

In my humble opinion this is off topic.
Reason: The topic is Pearls. Pearls are a created matter whereas the Qur'an is not created matter but the word of Allah. |

HKhan and Lofty,
Kindly tell us which is the good book. you are refering to.
The encyclopedia has the following meanings:

I do not find the statement which would mean 'he who devouts his life' anywhere in that Verse of the Qur'an which you have referenced as 2:207
وَمِنَ النَّاسِ مَن يَشْرِي نَفْسَهُ ابْتِغَاء مَرْضَاتِ اللّهِ وَاللّهُ رَؤُوفٌ بِالْعِبَادِ (2:207) 2:207 ( English translation by Asad) But there is [also] a kind of man who would willingly sell his own self in order to please God: [190] and God is most compassionate towards His servants.
Foot Note 190 (Quran Ref: 2:207 ) Lit., "there is such as would sell his own self out of a desire for God's pleasure": i.e., would give up all his personal interests if compliance with God's will were to demand it |

part of MANKIND - ok.
part of MAN, - oh no, each one of us is a full grown man.
how KIND are we? - Measured on which scale? |

Are you saying word of Allah can not contain pearl?
"do not find the statement which would mean 'he who devouts his life' anywhere in that Verse of the Qur'an which you have referenced as 2:207"
Yes, you are right. Thanks for correction. |
