THE BEAUTY OF THE BEARD (poem)
"Glorified be He who beautifies women with long locks of hair And Men with long beards There is beauty in the beard Aye, there is beauty in the beard!
When the lion roars all the animals submit For the lion is the king of the jungle The lion with its glorious mane And a Muslim man grows his mane in pride Showing the rest of humanity that he is to be respected Can one imagine a lion without its mane? Nay, thou canst not! Then imagine a man without his beard Woe to worldly women who mock the beards so! Desiring husbands with clean shaven faces Woe to women who mock the Prophet’s Sunnah In the name of hygiene, neatness and smooth texture Indeed the women of this world cannot like the beard But she who wants Paradise adores the beard!
A beard is a gift given to man Something only he can grow; a woman never can! When he ponders, he gently strokes it; When he eats, it stores food; When he is with kids, they play with it adoringly; When he is with his wife, she fondles it lovingly; When the enemy see it, fear is struck in their hearts! Ah! there is indeed beauty in the beard!
All the Prophets had beards - yes they did! Muhammad (pbuh) had a beard - so big! so big! All the companions had beards - o yes! o yes! All the sages had beards - I know! I know! All the wise have beards - tis true! tis true! All the pious have beards - you see! you see! All the Muslims have beards!? - if only! if only!
Who did not have beards? The kafirun! Who had clean shaven faces? The kafirun! Who grew their moustaches? The kafirun! "And what did our Prophet order?" I hear you ask He ordered us to lengthen the beard and trim the moustache! Lengthen the beard and trim the moustache! What greater reason than this can there be The fact that our Prophet told us to see That we make ourselves appear to the world As full bearded men with honour untold
O Muslim brother! Why do you desire to look like a woman When your blessed facial hair is the difference between you and the opposite gender? O poor Muslim brother! Why do you imitate the kafir Instead of following the Prophet of Islam? O silly Muslim sister! Why are you so blind? Infatuated with Bollywood actors who have no mind! O wretched sister! Are you not scared of your choice? You would rather have a feminine monkey instead of an exalted manly ape!
So indeed I love my beard And adore the curls and tangles Which no oil, gel or superglue can ever straighten My glorious long, curly, messy, fluffy beard! The playhouse for kids; The envy of Malaysian people And the beloved of Allah! |

hmm i wonder as well...about the bit regarding malaysians
nice poem sweet 16
however although as you mentioned all the prophets had a beard, so have modestly men in all times; but it does not give us the liberty to call the ones without it 'kaferoon' not v. nice i guess...
besides, the size and design can vary according to the, race, fashion and face cuts |

The counterparts of men without beard are women without veil. |

Oh God, Asalaam Alaikum all. Forgive me for not acknowledging all ur replies regarding this poem. I am really sorry, I just came across the replies today as I've been inactive for a while. Honestly speaking, I don't obtain much knowledge about this poem. I'm in several Islamic groups and Islamic poems whether humourous ones or serious ones r shared in the forums therefore I used this poem as a steppingstone to my participation in Studying Islam. It was like my first official post ever (besides the intro. about me). Yes I agree that men without beard should not be considered Kafirun as my father and brothers don't have beards as well however, I would never think of them as non-beleivers. And about the envy of Malaysians, well as I said before, I don't really know much about this poem but together we can surely discuss about it. Maybe the person who wrote the poem is a Malaysian or is bias towards them or maybe he or she meant it in a good way, unfortunately we can't really ever know. Lastly, I like the parallel that was used for men and beards corresponding to women and veil. Women who don't wear the Hijaab does not mean that they rn't as steadfast in their prayers or do charity or recite the Quran like the ones who veil themselves. Sorry for any inconvinience, Allah (S.w.T) knows I didn't mean it that way. Now my lesson is to post and share things I have more knowledge about in order to answer and respond to any follow up questions/discussions. Jazak'Allahu Khairan Fi'Aman'Allah |

I love sweet16's poem! I think envy for the Malaysians means that they cannot grow it or they do not have much facial hair, or something like that. But anyway, I'll definitely mail this one to my sister. She hates beards and loves clean-shaved guys. Poor girl! |

Asalaam Alaikum Sister Nida, This poem has been hotly debated over and majority of the members did not approve of it and this poem was not created by me either. I found it in this other online Islamic group that I was a part of. As for your sister, well I use to be like this too but then I went to this Islamic conference and I learned from a scholar over there that if we don't accept of men with beard then that means we will not accept of Muhammad (SAW) on the Day of Judgement...How can this be sister?! It is also stated in a Hadeeth that the Prophet (Peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) turned his face away when he saw two Iranian Muslims who were clean shaved. I'm sure we don't want that to happen on the Day of Judgement for our fathers, brothers or husbands right? Just like the Hijaab, some girls and guys don't like it either however, we must remember that faith is more important than fashion. This is all I can offer from my limited knowledge, forgive me if I have said anything wrong or incorrectly. Fi'Aman'Allah :) P.S. I request sisters and brothers to please pray for my uncle who is suffering from liver cancer please. Jazak'Allah |
